From Minimalist to Opulence, it’s your style. And your dream bathroom shower is closer than you think.
Do any of these bathroom complaints sound familiar?
- “We never use the bathtub anymore–it’s wasted space.”
- “We have room for a larger shower . . . I don’t know why the builder made this one so small.”
- “I’m sick of the same, dated tile our builder used in every other house in the neighborhood.”
- “I wish we had a steam shower instead.”
- “I think my shower is leaking.”
These are the most common complaints I hear when people talk about their bathrooms. How do I respond? Glad you asked:
- “If it’s a tub separate from your shower, I can remove it and build a shower that takes the place of both. Let’s put in a bench while we’re at it.”
- “If it’s a shower above your bathtub, I can remove the tub and make that into a shower. That’s what I did in my own home for my teenage son.” [Photo at the top of this page]
- “The same, dated tile used in all the neighborhood? Yeah–Builders get a significant discount when they buy in huge quantities. Hence the uniformity.”
- “You want a steam shower? Awesome! Yes, I can do that, too.”
- “You think your shower is leaking? Just because the grout is cracked, or caulk is gone, that DOES NOT mean it’s leaking. If it’s an upstairs shower, you’ll KNOW if you have even a small leak. Look for water stains on the ceiling below. If it’s on the first floor, poke around to see if there’s any soft wood or spongy sheetrock outside the shower (on the floor, curb, or walls). Another clue: Do you see or smell mold?”
