A better title for this post: WHY DO SHOWERS LEAK? Here in video #3 of me converting Carson’s bathtub into a shower you’ll see the initial skeleton of his new shower. I’ve installed his bench, and begun the mud (concrete) bed for the bottom.
When it comes to showers, there are 2 things I hear more than anything:
- “For the love of stench, Bill, would you please take a shower?! With soap.”
- “Will you regrout/recaulk my old shower? It’s leaking.”
If your shower is leaking, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR GROUT. Grout is concrete, and therefore porous. Water runs through it. If your grout is perfectly intact, water still runs through it. If your shower is leaking, it’s due to a faulty shower pan (which lives underneath the tile and grout). Watch today’s video to get a better idea.
